random acts of kindness by susan

For any of you out there who read the Fab Five blog, a couple weeks ago we decided to do an experiment. We put our names on little pieces of paper torn from a Panera napkin and each of us drew a name, then we marked our calendars, got our thinking caps on and set out to do a 'sort-of' random act of kindness for each other. We earmarked this week as the week we would blog about our experiences. So, here's my story.

Last night, Keith and I had gone to a graduation party and had just returned home. As we were driving through our subdivision, we passed one of our neighbors, of whom, ashamed to say, we have never met. Keith made the comment as we were driving by, "I really need to go over to their house and introduce myself. I don't even know the guys name." So we arrived home...I went down to the basement to clean some things up. Keith changed into his sweats, had just plopped down on the couch to watch some television when the doorbell rang. He answered the door and found our neighbor, the one we just passed, standing on our doorstep with a gift bag in his hand. Wow. That's weird. He introduced himself and said that someone had just stopped and asked him to deliver this gift. They said they couldn't deliver it because we had just come home and it was supposed to be a surprise and could he please deliver it for them.

Talk about a random act of kindness. God has an ornery sense of humor. =)

The pictures are of what I received in the gift bag. Some cookies (of which I just ate 2) and a handmade book reminding me of God's love. All of the pages are beautifully crafted and great attention to detail was evident in the color scheme selected. This page in particular was my very favorite.
