I excitedly opened it and inside was five brown bags. To each brown bag was stapled a piece of paper with a day designated (Day 1, Day 2, etc.) and some scripture verses and an exhortation. Here are all five together (after they had all been opened).
This was such a creative act of kindness! Day one was a chocolate bar, and I was given Psalm 34:8:
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.I was encouraged that day to "savor the goodness of God in your life today." What a blessing!! Each day was like that and the last day was a reminder of God's provision for me and his desire to give us good gifts, complete with tasty candy and a bottle of nail polish called, "I Want Candy." How cute is that!?!
I don't think I've ever shared with you guys that my mom used to give me special gifts in this same manner when I was a child and she had to travel. There would be a small present to open each day that reminded me that she loved me and was thinking of me. It always made me feel so cherished. She did it again, when I was in high school and traveled to Mexico with a class from my school. The gifts were small -- earrings to wear with a particular outfit, a bit of candy -- but ultimately, each a reminder to me of her love while I was far away. The RAOK one of you gave me made me feel so special, too -- to know that someone picked these things so particularly, packaged them carefully and made sure they got to me, so that I would be reminded of the Father's love for me. Thank you so much!
