The Bean Bar

I usually have candy in my cube at work...mostly so that people will stop by and chat. Since I'm a contractor there, I was trying to increase my project opportunities and found that a little candy is at least a reminder to people that I'm there. Anyway, "The Bean Bar" started a couple of weeks ago with Starburst jellybeans, which are my favorite bean of the season. Then someone suggested Sweetart jellybeans...so, I got a bag of those. Then someone else brought in Nerds bumpy jellybeans...another person brought in Hawaiian Punch jellybeans...and the whole thing took on a life of it's own. Since Easter is next weekend, I told everyone that "The Bean Bar" would soon come to a close. With that I decided to have a final competition where people are combining different beans to come up with a new flavor. The competition is called "The Beanie Awards" and will be judged, with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The first place winner will also be submitted to Jelly Belly's as consideration for one of their gourmet flavors. (seriously, I contacted Jelly Belly's and they are open to flavor suggestions). So some of the current entries are:

Superman: 1 blue Starburst Sour + 1 red Starburst + 1 pink Starburst
Kamakaze: 2 yellow Nerds bumpy + 2 yellow SourPatch + 2 yellow Sweetart
Bluminade: 1 blue Hawaiian Punch + 1 yellow SourPatch
Appletini: 2 green Jolly Rancher + 2 green Starburst Sour + 1 red Starburst Sour

So...it's been alot of fun and created more of a stir in the office than what I ever expected.
