green week by wendy

I thought long and hard of what I could write about how our family tried to conserve and be a little greener. What came to mind, was Mom's obsession of washing out ALL of her plastic ziploc gallon bags for reuse! My job was to dry the dishes after a meal and yes, you guessed it, I had to dry every blasted one of those bags! To this day, I throw away far to many because of this fact. Mom also saved all the brown paper bags from the grocery store for use in trash cans. I never really liked putting wet garbage in these bags, but some how we all managed just fine. She still carries on these practices in her condo and every time I visit I have to smile and realize that things just don't change much when you're 73 years old. =) I am seeing commercials for the eco- canteen and am thinking about getting one. So far, I still drink lots of water from those "toxic" water bottles. I haven't died yet from poisoning so I will keep drinking and smashing those bottles to recycle as our good friend Abby has taught us. Go Green!
