nailing it

This is a recent email exchange between Momo and Susan. Enjoy!

Oh, I don't really know much about nail polish, Susan.

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Yes, I have a few suggestions. First off, this is an excellent resource for checking out nail polish on people's hands: http://www.nailgal.com/. But be aware, some of the colors might be discontinued and hard to find. You can view the images without registering. Also, I love this chick's blog: http://www.scrangie.com/. I think she does a great job with her pictures and she's a nail tech, too.

I don't do OPI so much anymore -- I can find polishes with greater variety and (I think) a better formula at a lower price by going with China Glaze or a bunch of other polishes that are easily had by using an online retailer. The China Glaze color that you might be looking for is called Strawberry Fields. It's what they call "glass-flecked" and has a slight gold shimmer...very slight. I have this color and would be glad to pass it along to you. The other CG color from their newest collection that you might like is called "It's Poppin." You might be able to find that one at Universal Nail Supply -- I haven't been lately, but I'd suspect that they have it. [Photo credit: Community Nail Polish Gallery

OPI just released their newest collection, Colorcopia. It's a re-release of shades from their past. One of the colors, Cancun Fiesta, also might be what you want. Scrangie described it as a "medium blue-toned pink with very subtle shimmer." DC Cherry Blossom from that same collection might also be what you're looking for. Essie's Plumberry might also be what you're looking for. Although it's older, I found it at Universal and would be glad to give you my bottle -- it's very close to another Essie, Styleberry, which I also have. You can find Essies and OPIs at Trade Secrets at Polaris (or Beauty First) if you don't have the time or inclination to go to Universal.

If I've misunderstood and you're looking for something much lighter, there's OPI's I Pink I Love You -- a soft baby pink with blue flash.

Hope this was helpful!! If I'm off on the color and you need more ideas, just let me know!

I told Momo in a subsequent email that I now regarded her as the Tod & Nancy Heath of nail lacquer. =)
